All of the accommodation has been completely refurbished. Part of the house dates back to the 1700’s, and still retains a wealth of charm and character.
About the Accommodation:
All of our 8 bedrooms have en-suite facilities.
6 bedrooms have en-suite showers, 1 bedroom has en-suite bath & shower room, 1 bedroom has en-suite WC.
All bedrooms have freesat smart TVs.
Each bedroom has been individually decorated to a very high standard.
The main house can comfortably accommodate up to 15 people, with the option to add extra beds (7) and cots (3).
There is a large, well equipped and fully fitted kitchen, with American style fridge freezer, integrated dishwasher, large range master double oven cooker and microwave. There is plenty of cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, to cater for large groups.
We have items available for younger guests such as highchairs, plastic eating implements, a blender and childgates fitted at each set of stairs.
Breakfast room for 14 people
Formal dining room. This could also be used as a conference room.
Two lounge rooms. Each with smart TV with freesat and views over the gardens alongside the Dee Valley.
Games room, equipped with pool table, TV and Dart board.
Laundry room (this is a shared facility but will always be cleared for used on request).
Two ground floor toilets.
Patio doors from the kitchen lead out onto a large enclosed patio and garden area.
Outside there are several lawned areas to sit. There is a giant size chess & draughts board, a barbeque, a hot tub, a lawned tennis court (not available Oct-March) - this would be unavailable if there is a wedding.
The hot tub is situated in a private area of patio and garden and is for the exclusive use of the guests residing in the main house. If all the venue has been block booked, all guests will have full use.
We have an enclosed paddock, where you can exercise your dog or have a football match.
There is a regularly serviced fire alarm system installed, with all necessary fire extinguishers around all of the Country House.
We live onsite giving peace of mind to our guests and ensuring everyone receives that personal touch on arrival. We are also on hand should any of our guests need help or assistance with anything (without being intrusive).
Powys House is well situated on the A5 for sightseeing around the area with the Llangollen railway skirting the bottom of the garden. We are on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, and only a short drive to the many attractions of North Wales and surrounding area. Llangollen, Bala, Betws-y-coed, Chester and the North Wales coastline are just a few of the great places to visit.
We have, lakes, mountains, castles, national trust properties, Thomas Telford's Aqueduct, canal boats, and steam trains, on our doorstep. If you are looking for a nice relaxing time, taking in all the sights, then this is the place for you.
On the other hand, if you are looking for an action-packed holiday, then this also is the place for you. We have canoeing, white-water rafting, Go Karting, off road 4x4 driving, walking, climbing, high rope walking, paint balling, fishing, shooting, horse riding, Zip World, Bounce Below, Surf Snowdonia and much more all close by.
